Staycation in Tagaytay – Birthday Trip

by Kevin Bascao - 10:50 PM

Every year, I make sure that I go on a trip on my birthday. I go somewhere, either an out of the country or out of town trip will do. It’s like a tradition or routine wherein I review the past year to check how things have been and a time for me to set new goals as well. This year, I really had no plans set for my birthday. I do travels and blogs along with my full-time corporate job. But since I’ve been too busy at work recently, I had less time for everything else.
Good thing, my friends were able to set up something! They organized a staycation for us. Hooray!
So we headed to south of Manila — in Tagaytay!

Tagaytay is famous for having the smallest active volcano in the world which is the Taal Lake Volcano (it is called that since it is a volcano within a lake). It is also known as a place with cold climate. It is like the quick escape of people who wants to avoid the extreme heat in Manila. If traffic is not so bad, you shall be able to get to Tagaytay a little over an hour drive from the city.
Despite the rain, we noticed that temperature is not that cold. Not complaining though because it’s still a lot cooler in Tagaytay compared to Manila. As expected, the presence of fog is highly visible. It even reached to almost zero visibility during our trip.

We spent a night at Chateau Beatrice. I liked the place for its exclusivity. In fact, my friends and I had such a great time. The place seems to be old but I didn’t mind, actually. The room we got was a huge one. It has air-conditioner, water heater system is installed in the bathroom, and they offer free breakfast! So with all that, I’m good. I would recommend this place.

We did random but fun things like satisfying our taste buds with so many kinds of food. We ate bulalo, champorado, desserts, coffee and many more. In short, we ate a bit too much. No regrets!
We went to Ilog Maria honeybee farm where we bought items made from honeybee or at least has a content of it. We also dropped by at Pink Sisters convent and Sonya’s garden. On our way back to Manila, we stopped by at Tsokolateria to eat some food.

I realized that no matter how busy we are, we should still find time to celebrate the life that God has blessed us with. It’s true that we only have one birthday per year. But we can make this life worth celebrating every day. And we can celebrate our lives on a daily basis by being grateful. Find even just one thing that you are thankful and grateful for. Honestly, I’m grateful because God has given me people who will always have my back. I’m grateful for my family and friends.
How about you? What are you grateful for today? Feel free to share in the comment box!
